Calvin Luo founded his men’s and womenswear label in 2014. After studying at Parsons, the designer launched his first collection in New York City after being the youngest to be invited by IMG to show at New York Fashion Week. The predominantly unisex collection transfers feminine elements into menswear. For 22-year-old Chinese ready-to-wear designer Luo, Fall/Winter 2017 explores a neutral line between masculine and feminine, aiming to break pre-conceived notions linked to gender identity, Luo aims to transcend boundaries and guide his audience to see the true beauty in each individual, evoking the evolution of sexuality and gender as a myth.

Inspired by this progressive dogma, Luo has piped the word “asexual” through many pieces of the collection on wide leg trousers, pencil skirts and knitwear. The designer combines a neutral palate of camel, black, olive and heather gray with striking cobalt and punches of garnet. Luo is introducing youthful cuts and bold stripes appear on skirts and dresses. The collection also features a series of cropped, mock turtleneck sweaters that target trendsetters. Sharp, calf length color-clocked wool coats with velvet overlays provide a strong masculine point of view. All pieces convey style and ease while boasting expertly tailored construction and design.

Luo brings masculine details to women’s pieces and feminine touches to menswear to the forefront probing the beholder to decide what works for them.

Lenovo for Calvin Luo Capsule collection:
With the introduction of the “Lenovo for Calvin Luo” capsule collection, the designer attempts to show how digital tech will very soon have a great impact on innovating fashion. Calvin believes the combination of fashion and technology will become the main tendency in seasons to come hereby launching a six-piece capsule collection along with the Fall/Winter 2017 “Asexual” collection.
In collaboration with Lenovo, Calvin researched and developed “FCPB LEB” LED, a new type of LED light that is extremely thin and light.  Calvin and Lenovo have also developed an APP to remotely control content by the operator.
The APP will create content and tele-control the speed and direction of the words displayed on the garments.
Calvin is looking to break the traditional print restrictions and open the door to unlimited display possibilities enhancing the ability to take a stand with ever-changing messages to reflect personal opinion.
The technology is integrated in soft PVC leather garments, making sure it will operate in any weather and strengthen the futuristic style of the collection.
