Formally launched in London in 2012, ALIX OF BOHEMIA gained immediate traction as admirers began purchasing her jackets directly off her back. Over the next six years, Alix honed her craft, designing and tailoring over 2,500 bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces by hand.
The Fall/Winter 2025 collection for Alix of Bohemia
It’s no secret that I am partial to a cowboy theme, and for FW25 I looked to the gauchos of Uruguay and Argentina for inspiration.
Gauchos historically are seen as symbols of freedom, resilience and self-reliance, and I wanted the collection to reflect these things, as well as empower these qualities in the wearer. I love a sense of functional practicality when I approach designing, and I like things that wear beautifully and feel wonderful to the touch. The Gaucho must consider utility in how they adorn themselves; for example, a poncho protects from the cold and also serves as a blanket. I love that this lacks frivolity and also feels poetic in an important way for this collection.
The gaucho way of life evokes a sense of authenticity, adventure and craftsmanship which I feel reflect the garments themselves. As always, the collection plays with variety of texture, all rendered in natural fiber: cotton velvet, silk chiffon, hand loomed silk, knitted fur and the softest cotton knits.
