It is not secret that Mark Gong is a Sex & The City Fan; the series not only shaped his teenage years but also serves as his comfort food for the soul on reflective evenings. Fresh out of a heartbreak, Mark found solace and inspiration in the memorable NYE sequence from the 2008 film for his AW2024 Collection. Ditching the idea of mining personal relationships for creative fodder-not everyone is Adele or Taylor Swift after all–he instead celebrated the friends that helped him move on, the kind of steadfast friendship that’s just a phone call – or rather text-away.

Channeling “that friend,” Mark drew from Carrie’s iconic sleep-chic attire for his collection’s muse. In that unforgettable movie moment, Carrie dons a fur coat atop a silky sleepwear set, complemented by a pearl necklace, a sequined hat, and sparkling accessories, all rounded off with heels. In a moment of pure authenticity and vulnerability, she revealed her true self, cocooning it in resilience.
Echoing this ensemble, Mark toyed with themes of being both dressed and undressed, opulent and intimate, strong and vulnerable.
